My Bio: Rachel Deboer- Director and Writer: http://www.racheldeboer.com

Rachel Deboer has been involved in face and body painting for the last 10 years.  With a B.A. in Theater Performance from U.S.F. in Tampa, Florida, she understands the transformative and bold desire needed to create original and memorable designs for her clients.  She lived on the East coast and Los Angeles where she acquired a taste for the urban, surrealistic, and abstract fantasy characters she paints.  She gained her experience in “The Dream Theater” in Los Angeles known for its fantastical theater, circus inspired, and combinations of costume and body makeup.

Recently she won 3rd place in the world in Semi-Pro Brush/Sponge category in the World Body Painting Festival in Austria and was asked to teach at the famous F.A.B.A.I.C face and body painting convention in Orlando, Florida.

For the last 8 years, Rachel has been living in Maui, Hawaii surrounded by the vibrant and incredibly diverse nature landscapes as well as the Polynesian tattoo traditions and Hawaiian culture which have uniquely affected her face and body painting.  In Maui she started “Fabulous Faces” a popular face and body painting business which uses the highest quality body paints and henna to transform children and adults for parties, theater shows, art openings, workshops, corporate events, magazine advertising, fashion shows, and the yearly Halloween festivities.

Rachel has been teaching theater for over 15 years and has many years experience on both ends of modeling and painting.  She trains face and body painters in order to increase the supply of quality body painters here on Maui in order to create designs that clients’ imaginations may want.

Recently her focus has turned to Hawaiian cultural traditions, Polynesian mythology, and a fascination with the tiki: the ultimate physical representation of the divine embodied within one of the highest modes of Hawaiian artistry and religious practice.
